part of a book review that i wrote
Flyygirl begins with the 6th birthday of a beautiful, and intelligent, young, black girl, by the name of Tracy Ellison Grant. Throughout the first couple Chapters, Tracy is growing up with the same influences that many young black females face today. For example, their first kiss, their first boyfriend, peer pressure and many other things. “She began to smoke cigarettes in school with her girlfriends, buying Wrigley’s gum to hide the smell.” Tracy quickly went from a beautiful innocent young girl to a promiscuous trashy young lady; all because she allowed bad influences to take over her.
